Can nutrients improve how you handle stress?

Are you feeling stressed out and overwhelmed often?

I get this - so many of us mothers are stressed out.

And many of the women that I work with come to me with this problem.

Stress, anxiety and overwhelm and messages from our body that we are not coping well on a nervous system level.

How can we improve how much stress and overwhelm you are feeling on a daily basis?

Well it comes down to two simple things:

  1. Reducing the amount of stress in your life (external stress)

  2. Improving your stress resilience and tolerance (internal stress)

These two things need to work together!

You can be living a very low stress life - but if your body and nervous system don’t have the fuel they need to run properly, then your body will still struggle to regulate and remain in a calm state.

You can take handfuls of supplements, chow down on liver and bone broth - but if you are living within a forest fire of stress in your life, then your body will also struggle to regulate and find a calm state.

Nutrients are ESSENTIAL for proper functioning of your brain, nervous system and endocrine system (hormones).

By deeply and intentionally nourishing yourself, you’re giving your body the tools it needs to work properly.

Answer: YES nutrients can improve how you handle stress

Here are a few tips to get you started with nourishing your body back into a state of calm.

1. Eat breakfast every morning, within an hour of waking up.

I’m not talking about coffee and the crusts off your kids plates.

Eat a solid breakfast that includes protein and fat.

Eggs, veggies and toast

Bacon, eggs and fruit

Sour dough with butter and avocado

2. Cook yourself a nourishing pot of soup, stew or chili and freeze yourself portions for lunches or a quick meal.

3. Focus on eating nutrient dense foods. For example:

Eggs

Full fat dairy products (if you can tolerate them)

High fat and tougher cuts of meat (organic and grass fed if you can manage it)

Fish, seafood and bi-valve crustaceans like calms, mussels and oysters

Organ meats (liver, kidney, heart)

Leafy green vegetables and fruits (cooked is easier to digest)

Bone broth

Nuts and seeds

Fats from farms, fruits or fish (and not from factories)

Herbal teas

Nutrients can absolutely help support your body!

If you are feeling stressed out, overwhelmed and anxious - you need a holistic approach to finding your peace and calm - and nutrition needs to be part of it.

Hope this helps!

Warmly,

Amy
